How We’ve Changed Since Working From Home

I'm not entirely sure how I spent 15 years of my career commuting to an office 5 days a week.

Pre-2020, you probably had a (not hot, but static) desk, maybe 5-10 meeting rooms to choose from (or fight over), an office kitchen, cafe nearby, coworkers to chat to... you get the picture.

Even though we've settled into a mostly hybrid or remote working model, it's now very easy to sit down at your desk in the morning with a coffee, open Zoom, and log off at 6pm with only one quick dash to the bathroom.

Incidental exercise is gone, so you have to get much more intentional now.

One of my easiest tips for moving and also increasing focus, is to choose one spot at home for "working" / email / focus time and one spot for meetings.

At my previous house, I used my desk for focus time and my kitchen table for meetings. I moved to the kitchen table for my meetings and got that same feeling of "returning to my desk" after a meeting, ready to action what had just happened.

Now I have my desk and an extra table in my office and do the same thing. It helps my steps out and also helps me separate meetings from other work.

Try it this week!
