May Recap and June Intentions

Hello friends! For those of you who have followed along with my blog for a while (it’s been around since 2014!), you’ll remember my Monthly Recap and Intentions posts

At the end of each month, I’d post about what my intentions were for the new month, and how I’d gone with the previous month.

The aim was to give you a peek into the work I’m doing as a mum, coach and business owner and to inspire and give you ideas if you’re wanting to shift the needle each month.

I really missed doing these posts and know they were some of your favourites, so I’m bringing them back!

May Recap

Here’s a recap on the goals I focused on in May:

Open my eyes to my budget

I am wayyy better at tracking my budget than I’ve ever been, but every so often I’ll take my eyes off the ball and start adding things to the credit card, ignoring my balance and getting a slightly sick feeling in my stomach when I think about my money.

I knew I had some bigger expenses coming up (see next month’s Intentions!) which was adding to my worry.

After ignoring things for a month or so, I decided it was time to sit down and open my eyes to where my money was going.

I love to set up a nice environment to do things like this - with tea, candles and a warm blanket, and take my time looking at things.

I wrote down the dates my big expenses were coming in, looked at how I’d get my credit card balance down and tweaked my budget to track future months.

When they say knowledge is power, they’re right.

I immediately felt better and have things figured out for the rest of the year. I encourage you to do the same if this is an area of worry for you!

Return to in person exercise classes

After a couple of years of lockdown, many of us have struggled to return to activities pre pandemic.

I loved doing group exercise classes for many years, but had a story about returning to it.

“I already have things on my phone I can do.” “It’s too much effort” etc etc!

But I figured I could buy a short term pass to a beautiful pilates and barre studio I kept driving by.

I’d aim for once a week and see what I thought after my 5 class pass ran out.

Lo and behold, it was SO nice to be back to in person.

My teacher is great, I’ve been focusing on reformer Pilates which is not possible at home, and it’s just nice to have some me time away from home and parenting.

Book holidays!

Again, a symptom of the pandemic I think.

After many cancelled trips, and restrictions on where we could even go, I’d kind of given up on planning too far ahead.

But again making an effort has made a big difference to my mood and motivation!

I’ve got my first overseas trip in 5 years (#mumlife) planned, a trip to the snow with V, and some ideas for a warmer holiday later in the year.

June Intentions

When I started these posts way back when, I was doing Jess Lively’s Life with Intention course (now Flow with Intention), where we set Intentions rather than goals. I still like this word so we’ll keep it going!

And how did I get to these intentions this month? I did lots of work at the start of the year around what areas of my life I want to focus on this year. They are - wellness, home and business, so each month I choose a couple of intentions for each. Easy and it makes a huge difference month on month.

Start the new house search

Yes, I am moving house this year!

After 7 years in our current place, it’s time for a change, and some more space, and since V starts school next year (what?!) this is the year to do it.

You’ll all know I’m very organised and planned, so I’m kind of dying to know where we’ll live so I can pick a primary school.

But first I’ve got to work out the right area, start looking and then get excited to move! Oh and of course this came into my expenses for the year so I’m glad I did my budget planning in May.

Offer Plan Your Week trainings

Lots of you have questions about my planning method and how I fit it all in as a mum.

Since I’m already planning every Sunday afternoon anyway, I thought I’d invite some of you along to join me for a planning session later in the month!

I’m so excited to do this together and answer any questions you have about planning.

If you’re not on my email list, you can sign up here and I’ll send you the details for the planning party later in the month.

Enjoy the Supermom Virtual Summit

I’m super excited to be part of my friend Lori’s Supermom Summit.

She is such an inspiring mum and business owner to me, and her podcast and book are both amazing.

I’m so honoured she wants me to be part of her summit later in June.

We’re going to be talking all about how to avoid toddler (mum!) meltdowns using planning, and I’ll be sharing some of my best tips to enjoy life more as a mum.

Again, sign up to my list (and grab a free time tracker!) if you’d like to hear more, or you can jump on Lori’s email list too!

Have a wonderful month. This post was so fun to write so I hope you enjoyed it too!
